Janet Scudder, 92, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. She was born December 20, 1931 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Andwan) Reamer.
Janet attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and graduated from Lawrenceburg High School. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, David Scudder, an Aurora boy, at the Greeks in Lawrenceburg. After high school, she worked as a medical assistant at a doctor's office and a switchboard operator at the local phone company before marrying David. Janet joined David in Charleston SC where he was stationed in the US Navy. They returned to Aurora and had four children, Michael, Jennifer, Jane, and Carol. They were married for 63 years before David's passing. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church mother's club and in the PTA for many years. Janet was David's accountant and secretary for their plumbing and HVAC business and his number one assistant at their small farm. She enjoyed Cokes, cooking, baking, working outside in her flowerbeds, watching college and professional basketball, especially IU and the Indiana Pacers. Janet was the "ball girl", always wearing her bucket hat and collecting errant tennis balls while helping her children and grandchildren practice for the team. She was an excellent seamstress, making her children's clothes and hundreds of Barbie and baby doll clothes. She was a hit with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, keeping her purse and cabinets full of candy. Janet was a tough little lady with a unique and lively personality. She was a caregiver all her life and stayed active and independent up until her last day on earth.
