Harold Alfred Bittner

Harold Alfred Bittner, 88, of Lawrenceburg, IN, passed into his eternal rest on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Harold (Hank) was born on November 22, 1935 to Harold and Catherine Bittner in Mt. Healthy, Ohio. His parents owned the Brickyard Lake in Mt. Healthy. He moved to the west side of Cincinnati after marrying Lois Ann Stapleton on October 10, 1959. An only child, Hank was blessed with the abundance of his wife’s ten siblings.   Hank, Lois, and their children, Kim (Dino) Schmaltz, Jeff (Jill) Bittner, and Shelly (Aaron) Kozlowski moved to Dillsboro, Indiana in May 1974. Hank and Lois raised their children, sheep, cows, dogs, horses, chickens and various other wild things on the 60-acre farm until their youngest graduated and they sold the farm in the mid-1980’s, eventually moving to Hidden Valley Lake in Lawrenceburg.   Hank was a lifetime member in the Hidden Valley Lake Fish & Game club. An avid golfer, he received a hole in one award from French Lick Hill golf course. Hank was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1993. He was a talented pool player, and won many awards while living in the Villages, Florida after retirement. Hank was a successful entrepreneur and inventor of the SAVE-A-WALL basement waterproofing system. He was a wonderful cook, launching Hank’s Country Style Chili, locally famous and carried in 27 grocery stores throughout southeastern Indiana. He and his family were members of the Cincinnati Horseman’s Club. He was quite an artist, a wonderful singer, enjoyed ice cold beer, and his favorite saying was, “I have to do everything around here”.   Hank is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois, children Kim (Dino), Jeff (Jill), and Shelly (Aaron), grandchildren Jennifer, Jeremy, Jordan, Angela, Sarah, Garrett, Rhianna, Kaelyn, Jaxon, Zachary, great-grandchildren Brylie, Sydney, Madison, Journey, Eliyana, and Angie.   Memorial donations may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Parkinson Disease Association.  Family and friends are invited to Hank's Memorial service that will be held at the Community Fellowship Church, 505 Bielby Road, Lawrenceburg, IN on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10 am, with Pastor Paul Woodburn officiating.  Visit us at www.fitchdenney.com
